There, the titanic evergreens, rocky coastlines, and mist-filled mornings provided a stunning canvas for our collection of purpose-built fall gear, while the blend of wabi-sabi grace and summer camp charm of Captain Whidbey echoed the approachable yet hard-wearing ethos of the Cascadia Edit itself.

Tucked away within the salty chop of Washington’s Puget Sound, Whidbey Island is a place seemingly frozen in time, where history, nature, and community converge in perfect harmony.

For over a century, Captain Whidbey Inn has stood as a cherished refuge for traveling nature lovers, commemorating this island’s rich heritage in every stone, log, and shingle.

Constructed in 1907 from local timber, Captain Whidbey Inn has welcomed generations of wanderers, artists, and adventurers, each contributing in their own way to the Inn’s sense of rustic mythos, a quality immediately felt by anyone lucky enough to spend the night within its well-appointed walls.

Through the passage of countless seasons (and the battery of rough weather they bring) Captain Whidbey stands tall, at once a living testament to the craftsmanship of ages past and a celebration of the time-worn majesty of the island itself.

At Captain Whidbey, we found more than just a location; we found a kindred spirit, and every snapshot we snagged there tells a story, not only of our time spent there but of the island’s enduring legacy. They are a reminder that some things, like wave-worn rocks, the fades on a well-loved flannel, or the echo of history in the walls of Captain Whidbey, cannot be claimed in the moment, but reward those who endure.
